SWLA Bar Association OktoBARfest Gumbo and Chili Cook Off
Members of the Southwest Louisiana Bar:
The SWLA Bar Association Young Lawyers Section will host OktoBARfest Gumbo and Chili Cook Off on October 29, 2022, beginning at 11 AM at Crying Eagle Brewing Company.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Holiday Helping Hands program.
Holiday Helping Hands is an outstanding philanthropic program that serves our community and is centered on providing Christmas gifts to impoverished children. Various schools in the area identify qualifying children for the event, and our Bar purchases gifts according to a wish list prepared by each child and their parents. The gift purchases are largely funded by the SWLA Bar through OktoBARfest participation fees or private donations.

The Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana is hosting a Continuing Legal Education Seminar on Friday, September 23, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at L’Auberge Casino Resort. The program is approved for 3 hours of CLE with 1 hour of Professionalism included in addition to 3 hours of estate planning specialization.

SWLBA 2022 Bench-Bar Conference
The Southwest Louisiana Bar Association will hold the 2022 SWLBA Bench-Bar Conference on Thursday, March 24, 2022, through Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa in Houston, Texas.
Conference registration provides six hours of CLE, including ethics and professionalism, a “happy hour” get-together with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on Thursday, and a closing night party on Friday evening.
Separate registration is available for participation in the Bench-Bar Conference golf tournament at the Wildcat Golf Club on Friday, March 25th. There will also be a Tennis open and Basketball Tournament available at no charge.

2022 Annual Spring Conference of the Third Circuit Judges' Association
The 2022 Annual Spring Third Circuit Judges’ conference is scheduled at the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel in downtown Natchitoches Louisiana. The conference will offer CLE hours, a Thursday evening Cocktail Party at the Steal Magnolia House, Friday afternoon golfing, a Friday night catered dinner, and the camaraderie typically associated with the annual meeting. The Conference fee is $225.00 ($125.00 for retirees), which includes registration, Thursday evening Cocktail Party, meeting refreshments, and the Friday night dinner. The costs for Friday afternoon golfing will be paid on an individual basis, and the prices will be $35 in total.
